Fish Oil for Health?

Question: What are the health benefits of fish oil?

Answer: The omega 3 oils in cold water fish oil (salmon, cod, etc) are very important for brain development in children and play major roles in the inflammation/anti-inflammation pathways in the body. However, the widely promoted ability of omega 3 oils to reduce inflammation is short-term only. Also omega 3 oils are unstable and easily transform into dangerous free-radicals. We also have to be wary of the likelyhood of mercury contamination of any fish oil product. Just how much omega 3 oil you need entirely depends upon your specific metabolic balance of oils. Everyone's need is different. Only testing can reveal what your individual needs are for omega 3 oils from fish.
